We want to inform you of an update of the pricing policy for managed VPS plans (First Class and Ultimate) on Hong Kong based servers.
The prices for managed VPS plans in Hong Kong are going to be raised to $350 USD/month.
Since the introduction of our managed VPS services back in 2012, we have kept their prices in all datacenters the same, despite the fact that the costs are quite different. In the last couple of years, the gap of the costs for Hong Kong and the rest of the datacenters widened even more. Keeping the same high quality of our services, as well as staying profitable, is forcing us to introduce price updates.
The new prices are already in effect for new accounts.
For existing accounts, the prices will be in effect as of May 1, 2017. This means that existing accounts could be renewed at the old price for March and April, while the subscription for May and any following months will be at the new prices.
The prices of managed VPS plans in the rest of our datacenters remain unchanged.
Our software developers have scheduled a software maintenance that may affect the operation of our support and billing systems. The maintenance will occur on March 9, 2017, between 03:00 and 04:00 EST.
In the maintenance window, it is possible our support site SureSupport.com and any billing sections in all interfaces to be unavailable, for up to 10 minutes. Also, payments for new services, renewals, or upgrades may not be accepted.
We apologize in advance for any inconvenience caused. If you have any questions, you can contact us through our support site http://www.suresupport.com.
phpMyAdmin is a utility for managing MySQL databases, available on our servers through the hosting Control Panel (sections "phpMyAdmin" and "MySQL Databases").
In case you use phpMyAdmin through a direct link/bookmark in your browser, we would like to remind that the location of phpMyAdmin is as follows:
where "your_server" is the primary hostname of the server your account is on (eg. https://mysql5-admin.s460.sure... for server s460.sureserver.com). You can check the primary hostname of your server on the left pane of your hosting Control Panel.
Today our software team disabled the access through other/older URLs. In case you have old bookmarks to phpMyAdmin in your browser (such as http://mysql5.admin.your_server.com), please update them accordingly.
As of this week, MySQL 5.6.27 has been installed on all our servers.
When considering server software updates, we always try to balance between providing the newest technologies, ensuring the security of the services we offer, and providing enough time to customers to deal with software related matters, in case their site software is not backward-compatible. The security of our servers is a top priority - in case a critical software vulnerability is found that may affect the security of the whole server, we will be making these software updates immediately.
Due to security fixes in MySQL 5.6.27 and the lack of known backward compatibility problems, our system administrators have installed it on all our servers, forcing its usage by all customers. All previous/older MySQL versions are no longer available.
Following our policy to provide the most recent server technologies which we consider stable enough for production environment, PHP 5.5 is now available on all our servers. Customers can now choose between PHP 5.5 and PHP 5.3 as default PHP interpreter for their accounts.
We are well aware that PHP 5.3 is no longer supported by PHP developers. However, according to our analysis PHP 5.3 still does not pose a security threat to hosting servers. That's why we decided that we will keep it for now, giving our customers enough time to make their software compatible with PHP 5.5 - PHP versions over 5.3 introduce major changes that require some older sites/software to be rewritten.
Security of course is a primary concern, and our system administrators are closely monitoring the situation around PHP 5.3. If a security vulnerability is ever discovered, PHP 5.3 will be removed immediately. That's why we advise customers to make sure that their PHP sites/software are compatible with PHP versions over 5.3.
